Hi, I just added an updated, more informative version of my Bio. Check it out!
What inspires me the most is classic design from the 1950’s and the 1960’s. The lines that were used that became what we consider “classic” today, the typefaces that represented the era so well, and the color combinations all seem perfect, and remind me of an age that seemed so drastically different then the world I know. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time to study the design elements and processes that were used to create the things that people took for granted. I find inspiration in architecture, interior design and the spaces inside them, filled with the right combination of colors, artwork and furniture. If you really want to express yourself you cannot limit yourself to just one medium, and that’s why interior design inspires me, because it combines different elements.
The second thing I think of is traveling. I’ve been to both coasts and many places in between, as well as Canada and Mexico, and I try to go to a new place every chance I get. I find new cities fascinating, and draw inspiration from all of the differences in cultural norms and nuances, attitudes of the people, landscapes, and cuisine (from fine dining to street food). All these things inspire me to create something, whether it’s a design on paper or a meal, I just have to create something. I get all this energy built up inside of me and have to express it somehow. I thrive on finding new ways to express myself.
My inspiration comes from anything that I perceive as beautiful. Seeing an amazing piece of illustration, typography or design that is beautiful, makes me think of how much is possible and I see it as a challenge to see what I can do, how good my next piece can be.
